For the month of August, Riga Church will be collecting school items to be
distributed to the local Burmese children. Items can include
normal school materials like pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons,
erasers, backpacks, rulers, and highlighters. Once theses items
are collected they will go down to Lake Ave. Baptist Church to be given out.
Lake Ave. Baptist Church has a very high concentration of Burmese
families.
Thank you.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, we will provide food for the hungry, comfort for the stranger, clothes for the naked and to provide assistance to those in need based upon Matthew 25: 35-40. We will seek in help these individuals equally by supporting local, regional and
global projects based upon the talents God has given us.
Each month, our church takes on a different missions project. Some of the projects we have been involved with include:
Exciting Mission Project
Riga Church, through the work of the Missions Team, has embarked upon an aggressive campaign to raise $7500.00 to build a clean water well in southern Sudan.
On April 13, Carol Snook spoke to the church congregation about a program called Water for the Sudan. This is a non-profit organization founded in Penfield, NY that drills wells in the Sudan. This organization has brought clean water to the dry country where there was previously no water. Before the wells were drilled, young girls would have to walk for miles, spending 8 hours a day in search of water from dirty and diseased infested ponds.
As a results of wells being drilled in Sudan, these girls now have time to go to school. Active communities as large as 6,000 people have sprung-up around the fresh water wells. The villages are now healthier because they have clean water.
If you wish to donate to this project, please send a check to Riga Church with a memo to Water for the Sudan. We will acknowledge your contribution.
More information about this project will be posted soon on this website.
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,
show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.
Kneels at the feet of his friends, Silently washes their feet, Master who acts as a slave to them.
Neighbors are rich and poor, Neighbors are black and white, Neighbors are nearby and far away.
These are the ones we should serve, These are the ones we should love. All are neighbors to us and you.
